A Clean Country Is My Responsibility Campaign

It is HSF's core belief that the wellbeing of Yemen is every citizen's responsibility. For that reason, it launched a campaign to clean up some of the major roads and mosques in a number of cities in Yemen. The campaign encouraged the participation of the local community and Neighborhood residents, along with young women and men volunteers from HSF, to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean urban environment. The cleaning campaign was carried out in the governorates of Sana'a, Taiz, Aden, Hudaydah, and Hadramaut. Phase one of the campaign included:

  • In the Capital Municipality:  4 cleaning campaigns were carried out, that included 18 neighborhoods, 10 major roads, and 11 mosques.
  • Hadramaut: 2 campaigns, covering 8 neighborhoods and 5 major roads.
  • Taiz: 4 cleaning campaigns of 15 neighborhoods and 8 main roads.
  • Aden: 2 cleaning campaigns of 10 neighborhoods and‏ 5 major roads.
  • Hudaydah: a city-wide awareness campaign.

The campaign, which was rolled out in phases from 2012 to 2014, was met with public enthusiasm and received wide media coverage from satellite channels and Yemeni newspapers.
